The Metamor City Podcast by Chris Lester

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The Metamor City Podcast is an audio fiction series that is distributed for free. It will feature a mixture of short stories and full-length novels, all taking place in one large world with an overarching story arc. Combining the narration of audiobooks with the music, sound effects and full vocal cast of a serial radio drama, The Metamor City Podcast provides an immersive audio experience of a world like no other.

The stories of The Metamor City Podcast take place in a high-magic, high-technology setting, an epic fantasy world projected into the near future. The action focuses primarily on the inhabitants of Metamor City, a mega-metropolis that is also the capital of the world’s largest superpower, the Empire of Metamor. The empire covers most of the continent called Galendor; click here to see a map of the continent (which shows the political boundaries of the empire’s provinces and territories). A terrain map of the planet (with certain parts as-yet undefined) can be found here.

TruckerRich Says: I have really been enjoying this continuing serial. From the characters and the fantasy world created by Chris, to the narration and the full vocal cast. This is one great story!

The Failed Cities Monologues by Matt Wallace

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

In a hardboiled dystopian future, one major American city has been divided in two. Separated by much more than a river, one side is an unfinished technological marvel populated by mega-skyscrapers where the wealthy live, work, and play. The other is a forsaken wasteland where order is strictly maintained by a rogue group of cleric soldiers known as the street preachers. But this dichotomy is about to change. Slowly, quietly, clandestine forces are working to undermine the small piece of redemption the street preachers have brought to their concrete flocks. In the face of watching their second chance crumble to dust, some will fight to stop it. Others will kill to make it happen.

A bold experiment in podcast fiction, The Failed Cities Monologues are told from the shifting perspectives of the characters who inhabit this world, twisted noir archetypes and cyberpunk warriors. Their lives and their stories are linked together by conspiracy, fate… and blood. This story is for mature Audiences

TruckerRich Says: This story is told by it characters 8 different points of view. A brilliant story told with excellent delivery. Very Awesome, I highly recommend.

A 2007 Parsec Award nominee.

DARKAGE

A group of friends playing a fantasy role-playing game, DarkAge, become trapped inside the game as their characters. Many of their past gaming decisions will come back to haunt them. They must battle wizards, demons, knights, giants, and the undead but find their most deadly foe is each other. Will our heroes find their way back home? Will they want to go back home? Come hangout at The Busted Skull Tavern, where the ale is cold and the wenches are hot.  This is a fantasy fiction podcast novel by Kirk Warrington.

TruckerRich Says: Kirk has written a very entertaining fantasy story. The Dark Age world is very believable and the characters are intriguing.
