Traitor

BOOK ONE OF THE TURNER CHRONICLES

Last Chance – a small town set on the edge of the far frontier. It is a place of gentle manners and common civility. After all, it should be since more than three quarters of its residents are women. However times change when a Talent Master runs rampant, savages threaten war, and an illegal militia from an alternate universe plans invasion and empire. A hero is needed. A Savior. Meet Aaron Turner, the small unassuming man who runs the Last Chance General Store. He is this town’s–this world’s–only hope. Unfortunately for the town, Aaron also happens to be a soldier and Militia spy whose job is to prepare the ground for the Militia’s invasion. To help him with this task, he has a cellar filled with advanced weaponry and the unique ability to teleport between the two worlds. However after a year of living within Last Chance, Aaron is no longer sure in which direction his loyalties lie.

TruckerRich Says: Mark did a really great job on this story. I love stories were people jump to different lands or times. Reminded me a little of Steven King’s The Talisman. Mark created a believable alternate universe with some very interesting characters. I hope there are more stories to come in this series. Warning contains some minor adult situations and violence. This story is complete.

Beautiful Red by M. Darusha Wehn

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

BR_coverThe future is boring. Technology has solved the world’s most pressing problems, leaving people with tedious work and mundane play. Jack is a Security Officer Class 5, which sounds important, but isn’t. However, her banal life as a cubicle worker by day and tinkerer by night is interrupted when she discovers that her employer’s computer system has been invaded.
Jack enlists the help of her only friends – her co-worker, Gilles and Adrian, an online friend she’s never met – to help her track down the source of the invasion. Her investigation leads her to a shadowy group called the Red, where Jack learns that not everyone lives a life of quiet servitude.
Even though she believes that the Red are responsible for a series of gruesome attacks, Jack begins to become attracted to their worldview. In her search for the people responsible for the attacks, she confronts the leaders of the group as well as her own burgeoning sense of self-awareness.

TruckerRich Says:  Great story and characters. Darusha did a great job telling this story. At the end of each Episode she had me wanting more. The Episode are short, under 20 minutes. Great if you have a short commute. Warning this progam contains grown up themes and laungage that the FCC doesn’t like. This novel is complete.

edenThe tree is beautiful and they call her Eden. Her branches reach for the stars. She is like all other trees on planet Earth save for her enormous size. Still, she has leaves and she has bark. She turns sunlight into life. But this tree does not sprout from the dirt. Eden fills the sky, high in orbit above the blue expanse of Uranus. There she changes humanity’s very concept of extraterrestrial life. Dr. Malcolm Green is sent to Eden to audit a science team studying this extraordinary tree from the dark confines of space station Lola. But with unexplainable accidents plaguing the team, tensions are mounting between scientists and custodial staff. Is there a future for this project and Lola? Only Malcolm Green can make that call. Antithesis, Book I

Predestination and Other Games of Chance

A new thriller from the author of Sculpting God
Now podcasting

A man walks into a bar…

In the Port of Call bar on Space Station Sidon a man sits at a card game. He’s ruthless, he’s unforgiving, he terrifies his opponents into submission, and he almost never loses. His name is Alex Hart, and he is waiting for someone.

Reuben Briggs never could play nice with others. As a professor he couldn’t stay out of trouble. As the National Security Advisor he couldn’t resist using other people’s secrets to leverage his agenda. He always attracted the wrong kind of attention, and in 2125 that attention turned deadly. A Lunar judge wants his secrets. A corrupt senator wants him dead. The Green Lady wants his fealty.

For three years he’s been one jump ahead of the bounty hunters as he fought his way through the underworld of South America. Living by his wits and the fall of the cards, he’s stolen a new name, bought a new face, and scammed a seat on a shuttle to Space Station Sidon. He’s a man used to micromanaging destiny, and he doesn’t know that he’s walking into a trap more dangerous than anything he’s faced before.

Alex Hart wants to play cards with him.

Walking into the Port of Call, Briggs thinks he’s left all the hunters behind him. But in the looking-glass world above the gravity well, he’s about to discover that survival, like poker, is just another sport.

And in this contest, it’s not whether you win or lose. It’s how you rig the game.

Predestination and Other Games of Chance is a full-cast audio production of the first book in J. Daniel Sawyer’s Antithesis series. New episodes appear every Thursday. If sufficient interest develops, Predestination will be followed by the remaining volumes in the story:

Book 1 Predestination (and Other Games of Chance)
Book 2 Free Will (and Other Compulsions)
Book 3 Predation (and Other Acts of Mercy)
Book 4 Anarchy (and Other Forms of Government)
Book 5 Forgiveness (and Other Forms of Violence)

Warning Harsh language, graphic violence, sexual themes and situations.

TruckerRich Says: I am totally blown away by the brilliance of the authors I post on my site. Dan Sawyer’s story has  me floored with awe!  He has been developing his stories since he was a teenager.  Refining them as he has aged and gained worldly knowledge.  Amazing characters and plot mixed together with a talented voice cast.  Dan showed his brilliance again, in putting it all together with music and sound effects. Altogether a wonderful work of art that I will be waiting for each week to drop into my iTunes feed.

Black Shadow by Steve Saylor

Friday, September 12th, 2008

In a world where evil walks the earth, where super villains are taken over by demonic beings . They all want one thing, and one thing only. To take over the world. There is only one man who can stop them. One man with the powers and abilities to kick some serious demon ass. In a race against time to stop a portal that opens to Hell itself. One man, one hero, one sonofabitch you don’t want to mess with.

He is faceless,

He is fearless,

He is… Black Shadow.

From the mind of debut podiobook author Steve Saylor comes a story where the super powers meets the Supernatural.

TruckerRich says: A great new Super Hero fighting the evil out there in the world. I really enjoyed Steve’s story.

Playing For Keeps by Mur Lafferty

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Playing for Keeps tells the story of Keepsie Branson, a bar owner in the shining metropolis of Seventh City: birthplace of super powers. Keepsie and her friends live among egotistical heroes and manipulative villains, and manage to fall directly in the middle as people with powers, but who just aren’t strong enough to make a difference. Or that’s what they’ve been told. As the city begins to melt down, it’s hard to tell who are the good guys and who are the bad.

My Take: MightyMur has written a wonder adventure of lower level superhero’s with odd powers. Mur’s narration is very smooth and easy on the ears. I have listened to some of Mur’s other works and have been very entertained.

Get PFK at Podiobooks, iTunes or visit Mur’s site at Murverse.com or www.playingforkeepsnovel.com

Also check out Mur’s Heaven series and other stories at Podiobooks or the sites above. Mur also does “I should be writing 2.0″ “Tips of the podcasting Masters” at Amazon and also “The Takeover”

We’re showing Amazon how the small press does it, hero-style. Please go to Amazon.com on August 25 and purchase Playing For Keeps. If everyone does it on the same day, strange and wonderful things can happen. It’s true, I’ve seen it.
